When God Trusts You With More

There’s a side of the calling we don’t talk about enough, the side that feels heavy. The side that stretches your heart and tests your faith. Everyone loves the idea of being “called,” but few truly understand the cost that comes with the call. This is for every person who’s ever whispered, “God, this is too much,” and yet still found the strength to keep going.

“To whom much is given, much is required.” Luke 12:48

We quote that Scripture often, but if I’m honest, sometimes I find myself whispering back to God, “How much more is required?”

Because the truth is, there are seasons where it feels like I’ve carried as much as I possibly can. Seasons where I’ve poured out everything I have to give, and somehow the demand still increases. Seasons where the weight of the assignment feels like it’s pressing against my chest, making it hard to even breathe.

It’s a strange tension being chosen by God for something that both fulfills you and breaks you at the same time. You can be walking in purpose and still feel the pain of the pressure. You can be anointed and still feel exhausted. You can be obedient and still find yourself saying, “Lord, this is heavy.”

And here’s the part that not many people understand: you can be carrying a load so weighty that nobody around you even realizes how heavy it really is. You smile. You serve. You show up. But inside, it’s like you’re holding up a world that no one can see.

No one knows the weight but God.

No one understands the tears cried in silence but God.

No one sees the nights you wrestle with purpose but God.

Here’s what I know to be true… It’s only a holy God who gives you the strength to carry what He’s called you to. Because truth be told, if people really knew what this load felt like, they’d probably wonder how in the world you’re still standing or how you haven’t completely lost your mind.

I didn’t ask for this call. I didn’t ask for this assignment. In fact, I ran from it for years.

But God, in His gentleness, waited for me to get tired of running. He waited for me to surrender. And when I finally did, I didn’t realize that with every “yes” would come a new weight. With every new level, a new layer of spiritual warfare. With every open door, an unseen battle behind it.

And yet… I’m still here. You’re still here. We’re still here.

When the Call Is Heavy

So what do you do when the call is heavy?

You pause, but you don’t quit. You cry, but you don’t curse the call. You rest, but you don’t resign. You ask God for strength, and somehow, He gives it fresh, daily, like manna.

Because even in the weight, there is grace. Even in the weariness, there is purpose. Even in the warfare, there is still victory.

So to every person reading this who is carrying a heavy assignment… ministry, parenting, leadership, school, work, or any other mantle - hear me: you are not weak because you’re weary. You’re human.

Even Jesus, on His way to Calvary, needed someone to help carry the cross. Keep your eyes open for your Simon of Cyrene, your destiny helpers, the ones God sends to help you carry what you can no longer carry alone. Don’t reject help in the name of humility. Don’t let pride isolate you.

And if you need to step back for a moment, do it. Sit. Breathe. Refill. Reset. The call will still be there when you get back up.

Because the truth is, the heaviness of the call is not meant to crush you, but to consecrate you. It’s shaping you for the next dimension of your assignment.

My Challenge for You

If you’re in a heavy season right now, take a moment to rest without guilt and reflect on what God has already carried you through. Write down one thing you’ve learned in the weight of your calling and then thank God for the grace that’s kept you standing.

Because even when the call is heavy… His grace is still enough.
